Merry Christmas,
Well the holidays are well on there way and the Christmas Play is over. The children worked very hard and did a terrific job singing and dancing during the play.

Costumes for Christmas play:  Children need Elf or Santa hats, their uniforms, they can also add a scarf, gloves, or elf shoes to their uniforms.
The Christmas Concert is on Thursday,  There will be a closed dress rehearsal tomorrow.   They should wear their costumes. 
Children must have their costumes for the matinee on Thursday and the evening performance.  The evening performance will start at 7:00 Children should be in the classroom by 6:30,   The doors at the youth center open at 6:30, as well. 


If the children are in a dance as well they will need a second costume

All God's Creatures have A Place in the Choir:  Elf costumes  children can wear bright coloured  pants, shirts, dresses and elf hats.

Tomorrow is a colour day for the children.   They can come dressed in Christmas colours tomorrow if they bring a donation to the "Food Bank"or a donation to "Fill the Crib."
Tomorrow is also the Christmas Party and Hot Lunch.  The festivities will begin with Hot Lunch, lunch recess and then the Christmas Party.  Whoo hoo!
Congratulations Grade 4 Choir on your participation in today's celebrations at the Surrey Library.  You were fantastic!

Tonight's homework:

-finish, correct, and get speed test signed
-spelling due tomorrow Lesson 11 (4 pages)
-if able send a donation (baby diapers, clothing etc.) in for fill the crib

If you are in choir, dress warmly tomorrow, we are walking to the city hall to sing in the afternoon.  you must wear your complete school uniform for this performance ( white shirt, pants or skirt, and official school sweater no hoodies).
The Grade 4 class needs a santa hat, elf hat or other accessories for christmas concert Dec. 19th.  On the 19th we have a afternoon performance ( to work out the quirks) and a evening performance.  Some children are also involved in a dance too and may need another costume.   Please ask your child to check with their choreographer.

It was a busy day today and the children do have homework!
1. Finish the seasons for socials- each season must include 10 things the coastal people did during that season.  It must also be fine lined and coloured.
2. Complete rough copy and start good copy of Bighouse write up for group poster.  Each child has been assigned 1 or 2 topics to write about.  This is due Thursday
3.  Study for Science test on Thursday.   Use study guide!
4. Study for Socials test for next Tuesday.  Use Study guide!

November 7, 2013

Today the children received 3 study guides for upcoming tests the first test will be on Tuesday.  Tuesday's test will be on Owl's in the Family.  Please make sure the children have finished reading the book.  They should then answer all the questions on the page and  use the pages for studying.
The children should have brought home their Science test book.  The test for Science will be on Thursday.
Socials is their last study guide test.  They will find all the answers to the questions in their text book as well.
There will also be a Religion test on Tuesday.  They are to use their last Religion test as a study guide.
Lastly, their spelling is due on Tuesday.  They must complete the 4 pages in Chapter 9.   Test on Tuesday will include chapter 8 and 9.
  

Well the time has come for the Bighouse trip.  Please make sure your child's boots fit.  They should bring warm pjs or a hoodie and sweat pants to sleep in.  Bring a ziplock bag with a warm pair of socks and a wool hat to sleep in as well.  Other clothes should be warm.  Ensure your child has at least one change of clothes and a warm jacket, gloves, and another hat to wear outside. Other than clothing your children should bring toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, wash cloth, and a small towel.  Don't forget their warm sleeping bag and pillow.   Lastly, don't forget to give your son or daughter the cash for their McDonald's breakfast.  they should have should  keep their cash in their jacket pocket.  We will return to school around 2:30 Tuesday.  We will all be tired and ready for a warm bath.

As it is Halloween there will be no homework.  Have a wonderful evening! Our spelling will be rescheduled to next Friday.  On that day we will do Lesson 8 and 9 together.

Well tomorrow is Halloween so don't forget your costumes.  To participate in the Halloween festivities you must bring $1.00 for the Holy Childhood association, and some canned food for the food bank. The food bank donation is optional.  Don't forget it is hot lunch tomorrow.
The Bighouse trip is fast approaching and a few notices have been sent out recently.  Please make sure your parents receive all notices.  Remember no flashlights and bring a very warm sleeping bag and your pillow. Your clothing can be packed in a small suitcase, duffle bag, backpack, or bag. Place one wool hat and socks in a ziplock bag so you can wear them to bed.  Lastly, bring gloves and a hat for daytime wear.  
We are in desperate need of a couple of Parent elders to drive their car to the Bighouse and carry the luggage up with them. There isn't enough room on the bus for the luggage.
Lastly, scholastic orders went yesterday.  All orders must be at school by Thursday, November 7.

As the week comes to an end, I find I have a few reminders for parents and children alike:, 
This Friday is a Pro-D day.   The children will have a day off, and we the teachers, will be improving our teaching abilities.  
October 31 is fast approaching. For October 31, the children who have ordered will receive a hot lunch.
also on October 31, we will  be celebrating Halloween by dressing up.  The children are encouraged to be creative in their costumes and have fun.  Our one request is that none of the costumes are gory. 
The children have been asked to bring a cardboard egg carton to school by Wednesday so that we can complete a Math activity

Ice cream paragraph rough copy 
The children should start with  an opening sentence  Perhaps they cold talk about how or why or where icecream was purchased .
 It should tell 
-about the taste, fee, smell, and look of the ice cream
They need a closing sentence that could tell how they feel when it is gone,
The work above should  have been completed at school!

When they have finished they need to do a good copy.  A good copy  includes corrections to spelling grammar, sentences. It also includes fine-lining their work.  lastly they must decorate this assignment

Children must also sign and correct their Spelling Lesson 9 workbook pages, and Spelling Test.  To complete this activity they must have their text book.

There seemed to be a lot of homework tonight.  We had the regular, Spelling pages 42 to 47 the last 2 pages are to be completed on the photocopy of the page they were given.  Our test for Lesson 7 is on Friday. Other homework to be completed was the Tree of Life, for socials (worked on since last Wednesday)  The Letter to the Pope Good copy ( we have been working on this for 1 week) and Triple-scoop words ice cream cone.  The triple scoop word ice cream cone must have descriptive words (adjectives) fine lined the ice cream should be coloured,  cut out and glued together. This work has been worked on since Monday.   All of this other work Socials, Religion, and Journal are due tomorrow. Only the Spelling is due Thursday. Some of your children may not have written down the extra assignments as they completed and handed the assignment in already.  If your child appears to have a lot to do tonight it is advisable to speak to them about using there time wisely in school.

Thankyou to all the parents, friends, and family members who attended the Potlatch yesterday.  I was very proud of the Children's efforts.  They in turn were very excited to finally present their skits, speeches and songs.  What a fabulous day!  What great food! Yum-yum.  Thank you once again for all your efforts.
